"Ethan's
method was a clear presentation to his dedication to the SomaVeda
practice. He was gentle and clear... His
honoring and presence of the work came through as encouragement and
grace in the learning. I have learned allot that I have already started
to use in my practice." - Kellie, LMT, Ithaca

"Khruu
Sisser volunteered to assist Aachan James in facilitating this
intensive (month-long June 2010) training. He flew all the way from New
York to be a support for the entire month long program and a training
partner and support for the lucky students! Over the last year Ethan has
become a talented and dedicated teacher and brings his extensive
training and practice as an Ashtanga Yogi and teacher to his SomaVedatm practice
and classes. We wish to thank Khruu Sisser for sharing our mission to
spread the Practical Expression of Loving Kindness with as many people
as possible!" - Aachan James and Thai Yoga Center Staff

Immersion-Style Courses:
In our trainings, we don't just talk about SomaVedatm
Thai Yoga and healing - we engage in it in real-time, in a practical
and powerful way. Dr. James (founder and Aachan of the SomaVedatm
Institute) has told me countless times throughout the years that we
must develop internally just as much as we learn information from
outside sources, and that we must do both at the same time.
In
our trainings we will engage every aspect of our being - our mind,
body, heart, and spirit. In doing so, something magicle happens - we
have the opportunity to grow in ways that are otherwise impossible when
we fragment ourselves and feed our strengths while neglecting our
weaknesses.
Training
days are usually 8 hours long. This gives us the opportunity to focus
in and create a one-pointed focus of attention on what we are learning.
A balance of self-observation and focus on others
"Be what you know" is a quote that sticks in my head from Dr. James. In these immersion courses, we will have the opportunity to authentically observe ourselves, our feelings, our thoughts, and our physical body as we learn the various techniques. We will have the opportunity to observe how we interact with others and how we relate to the material we are learning. In doing so, we wil have a great opportunity to see what we really want to bring to the session when we work with another. Do we want to bring our fears and projections? Or do we want to bring receptivity? Once we choose what we would like to bring to our session, we will then practice LISTENING to the needs, of the receiver with our whole being.
Karma Yoga
In every training course, we engage in at least one hour of community service for the community in which the training is taking place. Dr. James is a HUGE proponent of community service and believed that community service is just as good for the "giver" as it is for the "receiver" of the help. Which can also be said of SomaVedatm Thai Yoga Bodywork!

"Learning the practice of thai yoga reminded me of learning a dance
routine. To learn it with your mind is a silly task, since to me, it is
something to be learned through the heart and felt in the body. The
moments I felt present in my heart center, the better I flowed through
the routine. After breathing through each press, stretch and pull, more
energy flowed through me and permeated through to my partner. Being
around such warm individuals and a patient and kind instructor made it a
memorable experience that I intend to make as a service that will be a
part of my current practice." -Karina Antonopoulos, 24
